Job Description:

Purpose of the Job Title: Senior Entry Clerk (Freight Operations Leader) To ensure that all customs related functions are executed to the highest standard. Support freight operations, customers, and the business as a whole with all customs related requirements. Job Description Management of Team Members and performance Capture freight Bills of Entries Air/Sea (import& Export) Processing Repair & Returns, Temp Imports, Warranty agreements, Industrial Rebates, and General Rebates etc.) Quality Check Declarations prior to submission to Customs to ensure compliance Compliance with Customs Rules & Regulations Attend to Customs related queries and audits Classification of Goods i.t.o. the General Rules of Interpretation Support Commercial Team with regards to customs related matters Assist Customers with applications for Permits & Trade Certificates Able to operate in a high volume environment. Assist pricing team with vat and duty estimates Plan and coordinate the freight movement imported cargo Assist clients with tariff determinations Monitoring of RCG and APN Compiling of daily deferment logs for invoicing purposes (Customs cash payments) Manage handovers from various agents Assisting with cross trade shipments General day to day customer queries Processing Voucher of Corrections (VOC’s). Processing customs refunds/drawback Facilitating and managing of customs disputes, litigation issues as well as mitigations Facilitating customs adjustments, PP’s, liquidations etc Processing of cargo dues (Imports & Exports) Arranging of customer collections (Export shipments) Facilitating of customs stopped shipments Completion and processing of customs documents (DA70, DA73, DA68 etc)

Requirements:

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous
  • Experience in the Logistics industry is a necessity
  • Strong Business Acumen
  • Must have 3 - 5 years’ experience in an Entry Clerk position
  • Familiar with customs tariffs and port charges (incoterms)
  • Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Valid Code 08 driver’s license and own reliable transport
  • Advanced Microsoft Package – Word, Excel
