Job Description

Our client, a pharma agency on the East Coast, is looking for a freelance Senior Pharmaceutical Commercial Strategist to start immediately for a remote contract position working EST hours through mid-late August. This position plays a critical role in shaping and driving commercial success across the product lifecycle, from early planning through launch and in-line optimization. This individual will lead and support strategic initiatives including commercial planning, launch readiness, and brand strategy development. Working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders and external partners, the strategist will synthesize complex data—ranging from market dynamics and competitive intelligence to epidemiology and customer insights—to develop actionable, executive-level recommendations. This role requires deep expertise in pharmaceutical commercialization and a strong understanding of both HCP and DTC engagement strategies across diverse therapeutic areas. Please note this is a remote position working EST hours that requires 20-40 hours/week immediately through mid-late August with the potential for extension.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead the development of comprehensive pharmaceutical brand strategies for both launch and in-line products
  • Drive commercial planning initiatives, including market assessment, segmentation, targeting, and positioning
  • Develop and refine launch readiness plans, ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams
  • Analyze market dynamics, competitive landscape, and industry trends to identify growth opportunities and risks
  • Integrate epidemiology, customer insights, and performance data into strategic recommendations
  • Create executive-level presentations and strategic deliverables for senior leadership and key stakeholders
  • Support HCP and DTC strategy development, ensuring cohesive omnichannel engagement approaches
  • Collaborate with medical, marketing, market access, analytics, and sales teams to ensure strategic alignment
  • Provide thought leadership across a range of therapeutic areas and commercial challenges
  • Monitor brand performance and recommend optimization strategies based on data-driven insights

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical commercial strategy, brand strategy, or commercialization
  • Proven track record of developing successful brand strategies and commercialization plans for launch and in-line products
  • Extensive experience delivering executive-level strategic recommendations
  • Strong expertise in both HCP and DTC marketing and engagement strategies
  • Deep analytical capabilities, with experience leveraging market research, competitive intelligence, epidemiology, and performance data
  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas strongly preferred, including oncology, rare disease, specialty pharma, immunology, neurology, cell and gene therapy, and specialty biologics
  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
