Job Description

A major European telecommunications group is establishing a new technology hub in Hungary to deliver engineering excellence, on-site support, and knowledge exchange across its European programmes. As Solution Architect / Designer, you will be the technical authority within this hub — bridging business requirements and engineering delivery across a modern Java-based microservices stack in a mission-critical telco environment. This is a hands-on architecture role: you will design, validate, and guide implementation — not just draw diagrams.

Job Responsibility

  • Own end-to-end solution design across backend, integration, and frontend layers
  • Define and enforce architectural standards for Java microservice-based systems
  • Translate complex business and product requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions
  • Design REST API frameworks and integration patterns for internal and external systems
  • Oversee PostgreSQL data architecture including JSONB structures and schema design
  • Guide and review frontend architecture decisions using Angular and/or React / TypeScript
  • Define CI/CD pipeline standards and DevOps integration patterns
  • Evaluate and recommend tooling across the Apache ecosystem (Kafka, Camel, etc.)
  • Lead technical workshops and design reviews with cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with product owners, developers, and DevOps engineers in agile Scrum/Kanban environments
  • Support and mentor senior developers, ensuring architectural consistency across teams
  • Contribute to build vs. buy decisions, vendor assessments, and technical roadmaps
  • Ensure solutions meet performance, security, scalability, and compliance standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect or Senior Solution Designer in enterprise environments
  • Deep expertise in Java (Java 21 preferred) and Spring Boot microservice architecture
  • Strong REST API design and integration experience — internal and third-party systems
  • Solid PostgreSQL knowledge including schema design and JSONB
  • Frontend architecture experience: JavaScript/TypeScript with Angular or React
  • Experience with Apache ecosystem tooling (Kafka, Camel, or similar)
  • CI/CD pipeline design: Maven, Jenkins, GitLab CI or equivalent
  • Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm
  • Strong understanding of security, performance, and resilience patterns in distributed systems
  • Telecommunications sector experience — strong advantage
  • Agile mindset with hands-on Scrum or Kanban experience
  • Fluent English — written and verbal
  • Interest in and practical exposure to AI-assisted development tooling

Nice to have

  • SOAP service integration and legacy modernisation experience
  • Graylog or equivalent observability/logging platform
  • German language skills (beneficial, not mandatory)
  • Architecture certifications (TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP)
