Job Description

We’re seeking a senior freelance Creative Director / Associate Creative Director to lead the Seasonal stream of a large-scale avatar and AI-driven campaign initiative for a performance-wear retailer. This individual will serve as the final creative authority on Seasonal avatars and campaign visual direction, partnering closely with an existing Creative Lead who maintains historical account context and client continuity. The role reports into the Account Creative Director and oversees a cross-functional AI creative team responsible for avatar development, visual research, and generative production. The ideal candidate blends: Brand systems thinking; Character and persona development expertise; Strong AI generation fluency; Structured creative leadership; This person must be both conceptual and operational — able to define the vision and step into AI workflows hands-on when necessary.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead creative alignment sessions and define guardrails for tone, styling, realism, and visual consistency
  • Translate client brand direction into a clear, executable art direction system
  • Ensure strong alignment between brand standards and Seasonal outputs
  • Act as the bridge between client expectations and internal AI/creative execution
  • Maintain cohesion across avatar development, environments, styling, and final assets
  • Own the Seasonal avatar vision end-to-end
  • Define persona frameworks and character systems
  • Ensure identity integrity across angles, lighting, styling, and expressions
  • Establish guardrails for realism, diversity, athletic positioning, and brand tone
  • Sign off on avatar direction before scaled production
  • Oversee and refine: Prompt architecture setup
  • Prompt refinement and troubleshooting
  • Scalable generation systems for avatar consistency
  • Guide internal AI creatives on best practices
  • Step in hands-on when stabilization or troubleshooting is required
  • Maintain awareness of downstream retouching and QC workflows to reduce inefficiencies
  • Define the Seasonal campaign’s overarching visual system
  • Oversee environment direction, wardrobe styling, composition, and lighting logic
  • Ensure avatars integrate cohesively across campaign touchpoints
  • Guide asset selection and maintain cohesion across ~175 assets
  • Maintain visual sophistication while protecting scalability
