A major European telecommunications group is establishing a new technology hub in Budapest to deliver engineering excellence, on-site support, and knowledge exchange across its European programmes. As Lead Frontend Developer, you will own the frontend layer of a modern Java-based microservices platform — setting the standard for UI architecture, leading a team of frontend engineers, and working closely with backend developers, architects, and designers in a mission-critical telco environment. This is a technical leadership role: you will write code, set direction, and raise the bar across the team.
Job Responsibility
Lead frontend architecture decisions across Angular and/or React / TypeScript codebases
Design and develop responsive, scalable, enterprise-grade UIs
Define frontend coding standards, component libraries, and reusable design systems
Conduct code reviews and mentor junior and mid-level frontend developers
Collaborate closely with backend developers on REST API integration and data contracts
Work with UI/UX designers to translate mockups into production-ready interfaces
Integrate frontend systems into CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, Jenkins, or equivalent
Contribute to sprint planning and technical design discussions within agile Scrum/Kanban teams
Ensure frontend solutions meet performance, accessibility, and security standards
Drive continuous improvement of frontend tooling, processes, and practices
Requirements
Proven experience as a Lead or Senior Frontend Developer in enterprise environments
Expert-level Angular (v7–17) and/or React with TypeScript
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, HTML, CSS/SCSS
Experience building and maintaining component libraries and design systems
REST API integration experience — working closely with Java/Spring Boot backends
Familiarity with state management: NgRx, NGXS, Redux or equivalent
Version control and CI/CD: GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins or equivalent
Experience with modern frontend tooling: npm, ESLint, Docker
Agile mindset — hands-on Scrum or Kanban experience
