Job Description

We are looking for a Freelance Associate Sweater Designer a top fashion company in New York, New York. This role supports the design and development of mens sweater/knitwear collections from concept through production. The designer will partner closely with merchandising, technical design, and production teams to deliver commercially viable product aligned with seasonal direction.

Job Responsibility

  • Assisting with sweater design concepts (yarns, stitches, patterns, silhouettes)
  • Creating technical flats and design sketches in Adobe Illustrator
  • Supporting tech pack creation and sample development
  • Participating in fittings, tracking revisions, and managing timelines
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and overseas vendors

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in apparel design, preferably knitwear/sweaters
  • Strong Adobe Illustrator skills (Photoshop and PLM a plus)
  • Solid understanding of knitwear construction, yarns, and sampling
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
