Job Description

This internship focuses on data analytics and reporting to support data driven decision making. The candidate will work closely with our analysts and leadership team to turn data into actionable insights and support ongoing operational excellence initiatives.

Job Responsibility

  • Partner with analyst to develop and refine reports that provide insights for decision making
  • Support the team in collecting, consolidating and analyzing data to identify key trends and insights
  • Assist in developing and maintaining reports, dashboards and performance update decks
  • Pull, clean and analyze data using Google Cloud Platform Big Query
  • Assist in creating or maintaining dashboards in Power BI to track key performance and operational metrics
  • Coding with Python to support data processing tasks
  • Contribute to ad-hoc analysis and operational support by working with large datasets
  • Support business audit preparation and documentation when required

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of SQL for data querying
  • Exposure to data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, etc.
  • Proficiency with Python or other coding language for data manipulation or automation
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Eagerness to learn, ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Bachelors - penultimate or final year of study
  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Malaysia is required

  • Develop risk segmentation, cohorts, and KPIs (fraud rate, approval rate, loss rate, false positives)
  • Evaluate rule-based and ML-driven decision strategies and quantify performance trade-offs
  • Partner with customers to: Diagnose their fraud and AML pain points, Interpret model outputs, alerts, and decision logic, Design and refine risk strategies using our platform
  • Produce customer-facing analytics, dashboards, and readouts that translate data into actionable risk decisions
  • Act as a trusted analytics advisor for customers implementing or scaling fraud programs
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering to: Define data requirements and success metrics for new features, Provide feedback on model explainability, rule tooling, and case workflows, Identify gaps in data, signals, or product capabilities based on real customer usage
