Our Objectives: Boeing Korea Engineering and Technology Center (BKETC) is seeking an FPGA/Embedded Systems Engineer based in Seoul, South Korea. In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing and integration of RIS(Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface) System in future aircraft connectivity. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative working environment and is committed to customer satisfaction and process improvement. Additionally, the candidate possesses critical thinking skills to resolve complex problems and should be eager to work with and learn new technologies. This is a highly visible, multi-year strategic effort that impacts all areas of the enterprise.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design and develop FPGA and embedded systems for controlling RIS in aviation applications
  • Design and verify FPGA-based digital control logic (Xilinx, Intel FPGA, etc.)
  • Perform FPGA automatic code generation and simulation using Model-Based Development (MBD) tools (MATLAB/Simulink, HDL Coder)
  • Integrate and optimize systems between FPGA and embedded processors (e.g., ARM Cortex)
  • Design and debug interfaces between embedded hardware and software
  • Prepare detailed design and verification documentation according to system requirements, and participate in design reviews

Requirements:

  • Experience in FPGA design and implementation (using VHDL or Verilog)
  • Experience in embedded software programming (C/C++, RTOS)
  • Proficiency with FPGA development tools (Xilinx Vivado, Intel Quartus, etc.)
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills for embedded systems
  • Experience in designing and verifying interfaces between FPGA and embedded hardware
  • Excellent technical documentation and presentation skills
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define research objectives, scope, and methodologies, and contribute to project planning and execution
  • Applicants must have the enthusiasm to learn new technologies and improve their skillsets
  • Proper English communication skill in verbal and written

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Embedded Systems with at least 5 years of experience Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience
  • or doctoral degree
  • Experience in aerospace or aviation-related system projects
  • Knowledge or experience in aviation standards and airworthiness certification processes (DO-254, DO-178C)
  • Development experience using Model-Based Design methodologies (MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience implementing FPGA-based AI accelerators or reinforcement learning algorithms
  • Experience in developing RIS(Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface) or phased-array antenna control logic
  • Participation in national or international R&D projects, especially industry-academia collaborations
  • Understanding and experience with relevant IEEE or other international standards
