CK Group are recruiting for an experienced Formulation Chemist to join a leading manufacturer of Medical and Technical products, based in Bishop Auckland on a full time, permanent basis. The company has extensive blending facilities and manufacture a range of products from lotions, to gels, sprays to shampoos and a range of other products for varied applications. They now have an opening for a Formulation Chemist to join their team. Working within the Product Development department, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing new formulations and ensuring the efficacy of these formulations. The company offers a salary ranging from £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience; and hours are 8.30am - 5pm Monday - Friday.
Job Responsibility:
Working and communicating with customers to develop tailored formulations
Sourcing materials and laboratory equipment to improve the Laboratory Facility
Defining the requirements for microbiological testing and co-ordinate this testing on site/externally
Carrying out wet chemistry testing of incoming materials and finished products using methods including: Viscosity, pH, melting point, UV-Vis and colour analysis
Creating production information files
Setting up specification parameters for incoming materials and finished products
Ensuring that formulations developed are commercially beneficial
Identifying acceptable suppliers of raw materials and working with the Supply Chain team
Designing and carrying out training with the QC team and other staff on site
Carrying out risk assessments for any lab work
Requirements:
Degree in Chemistry or cosmetic science/equivalent experience – essential
At least 2 years' industry experience of formulating relevant chemicals - essential
Personal care, Cosmetics or Medical product experience - desirable
A basic working knowledge of statistical analysis would be beneficial
Full UK Driving Licence and access to your own transportation
Hold entitlement to work in the UK
