The Forklift Operator is an integral part of our production team, involved in daily processes and successful outcomes for our facility and its customers. This position works closely with teammates at multiple levels in customizing product, per specs, in preparation for shipment. The ideal candidate will be experienced and qualified to perform a variety of material handling duties related to the production of residential doors. We're interested in hiring individuals who are responsible and are self-motivated.
Job Responsibility:
Read/interpret work orders to select the correct materials to move throughout the facility
Receive incoming shipments: verify contents, inspect for damage, and document discrepancies
Store materials in designated locations
Pick and pull materials for production and shipment
Load and unload doors of various weights and sizes into the designated truck trailers
Conduct cycle counts and perform 5S+1 inventory control duties
Collect trash and empty dumpsters
Conduct pre-shift inspection of the forklift to ensure safety and operational compliance
Provide safe operation of forklift throughout the facility
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Help with door repairs and general housekeeping
Maintain an adequate level of product and forklift knowledge
Move components and materials safely and report issues to leadership
Wear PPE such as composite/steel toed shoes, safety glasses, earplugs, gloves (per job function), and high visibility clothing
Requirements:
Must be at least 18 Years Old
At least one year of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting
At least one year of experience operating a forklift
Work safely and follow all plant rules
Show initiative, be a self-starter
Communicate, in English, in a clear and effective manner
Work independently, as well as part of a team, and have end of shift flexibility
Required to mount and dismount forklift multiple times per day
Forklift knowledge and safety procedures
Ability to organize and maintain detailed records
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and have ability to multi-task
Regular attendance and timeliness is an essential function of the job
Ability to use an RF scanner
Ability to use a pallet jack safely
Read a tape measure and do basic math
Stand for 8 - 10 hours straight
Climb and descend stairs/ladder as needed for the role
Do repetitive movements (hand, arm, leg
