Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of forklifts and material handling equipment used in industrial, warehouse, and distribution environments. This position is responsible for ensuring all equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with experience servicing propane, diesel, gasoline, and electric forklifts, along with other warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, reach trucks, and order pickers.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections on forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues
  • Service internal combustion (LP, diesel, gasoline) and electric-powered forklifts
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring, batteries, controllers, and charging systems
  • Repair or replace motors, transmissions, brakes, steering components, and hydraulic systems
  • Perform battery maintenance and replacement on electric forklifts
  • Inspect and repair hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, and hoses
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and maintenance logs
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure safe and proper operation
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and manufacturer service procedures
  • Communicate equipment issues and repair recommendations to supervisors or customers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area

Requirements

  • 2+ years of forklift or industrial equipment repair experience preferred
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and engine repair
  • Experience with LP, diesel, gasoline, and electric forklifts
  • Ability to read service manuals, schematics, and technical diagrams
  • Basic computer skills for documenting repairs and service records
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in shop or field environments

Nice to have

  • Certification in forklift repair or industrial equipment maintenance
  • Experience working on brands such as Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Crown, Raymond, or CAT
  • Experience with battery systems and electric drive motors
  • Welding or fabrication experience
  • Field service experience
