The Foreman for Substation Construction is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of substation construction projects across various locations nationwide. This role will ensure that construction activities are executed in accordance with project specifications, safety standards, and timelines. The Foreman will lead a team of skilled workers, provide technical guidance, and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction crews engaged in substation construction and related projects
Ensure all construction work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards
Interpret blueprints, specifications, and project schedules to ensure that work is completed accurately and on time
Manage daily site operations, including delegating tasks, overseeing work quality, and resolving conflicts
Conduct regular inspections of work in progress to monitor compliance with safety and quality standards
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met
Prepare daily reports on project progress, including labor hours, materials used, and any issues encountered
Train and mentor crew members on proper techniques, safety practices, and equipment use
Ensure equipment and tools are maintained in safe and operational condition
Assist in the recruitment and training of new construction personnel as needed
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in substation construction or a related field
Previous experience in a supervisory or foreman role preferred
Strong understanding of electrical systems, high-voltage equipment, and construction processes
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Valid driver's license and willingness to travel nationwide as needed
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and practices
Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks
Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime as required
Nice to have:
Experience with project management software and documentation
Certifications in OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, or electrical safety are a plus
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
