Job Responsibility:

  • Sets up, serves and cleans up food service area
  • Prepares orders such as soda fountain dishes, desserts, etc., as directed
  • Maintains prescribed standards of sanitation, housekeeping and safety in assigned work area
  • Sets up food for serving
  • Cleans utensils and equipment before, during and after serving
  • Checks completed tray before delivery to patients
  • Performs limited food preparation or final processing of simple salads, desserts, vegetables, etc.
  • Sets up, maintains and cleans beverage containers including coffee, iced tea, hot chocolate, cream, juice and ice dispensers, and related equipment
  • Sets up condiment areas, salad, dessert and hot food counters
  • Stores condiments and left-overs in a sanitary manner
  • Checks need for replacement of deleted or shortage of items and notifies proper personnel
  • Washes and sanitizes dining room tables and chairs
  • Cleans ash trays and maintains adequate supply of salt and pepper shakers
  • Sets up patient trays
  • Pulls and/or pushes food transporters as necessary in assigned work area
  • Maintains proper housekeeping, sanitation and safety standards in work area
  • Reports defective equipment to the immediate supervisor
  • May occasionally act as fill-in cashier, handling cash and making change
  • May perform other food service duties as required

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
