To help bring Christ-like change in people's lives by providing outstanding meals, excellent customer service, and a healthy staff culture in the context of our Family Camp and Retreats programs. The successful candidate will lead a small team in the production and service of quality meals, primarily in our Family Camp kitchen. The Assistant Manager is responsible for leading a team of employees in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures and maintaining safety and quality standards.
Job Responsibility:
Plan and implement menus (including recipe development, meal costing, procurement, inventory control, and waste mitigation)
Lead and participate in meal planning, production, and service
Schedule and supervise hourly kitchen staff, seasonal staff, & volunteers
Lead and participate in cleaning projects and managerial tasks as necessary to meet policy and procedural compliance
Assist in training and ongoing development of full-time, seasonal, hourly staff, and volunteers
Model cleanliness, readiness, and food quality standards
Administrative responsibilities include documentation and execution of food safety plans, daily checklists, and stock rotation on a shift-by-shift basis
Monitor food preparation and storage to ensure adherence to New Mexico food safety standards
Clean and maintain all kitchen appliances, equipment, and areas where food is served
Communicate professionally and effectively with guests about all areas of the dining experience, including allergen and special diet information
Evaluate unexpected occurrences and implement appropriate responses (i.e., adjusting prep sheets, sourcing additional product) in coordination with the Food Service Manager
Requirements:
A personal relationship with Christ
A servant's heart, with a strong calling towards hospitality
Ability to manage peers, full-time staff, summer, seasonal, and hourly staff in a positive and respectful way
Strong work ethic
Education and/or experience in food service management
Highly organized manager with an eye for detail
Proficiency with basic computer skills
Excellent personal hygiene
Strong sense of urgency and timeliness
Problem-solving skills, the ability to think quickly to adjust plans, and still achieve desired outcomes
Willingness to work with Spanish-speaking staff
