Job Description:

Randstad Victoria is now seeking a Food Scientist to join a busy team in the food manufacturing industry located in Duncan, BC. The Food Scientist will apply scientific principles and extensive expertise in food research and product development to contribute to the expansion of this thriving food manufacturing business.

Job Responsibility:

  • Explores new ingredients and conducts research on food products
  • Enhances product quality or cost efficiency by adjusting the formulation of existing products
  • Creates specifications for food products, processes, and/or packaging
  • Investigates methods to enhance the quality of foods, considering aspects like flavor, color, texture, nutritional value, and the physical, chemical, and microbiological composition of foods
  • Conducts testing on new products and devises processing methods for the facility
  • Executes product scale-up and oversees the commissioning of new products

Requirements:

  • Degree in food science or a related science field
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in the food industry
  • Expertise in product/process development, ingredient research, and product formulation
  • Proficient in specification development and analytical measurements
  • Experience in scale-up and commercialization processes
  • Robust knowledge of food science and fundamentals in food manufacturing
  • Capable of rapidly translating conceptual ideas into market-ready products within a dynamic business environment
