Job Description:

Food Safety Officer / Food Inspector £25.74 per hour (Umbrella). 3-month ongoing contract. South West London. 36 hours per week | Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm. We are currently seeking a fully competent Food Safety Officer to support a busy Environmental Health service across Kingston and Sutton. This role is ideal for an experienced Food Inspector who can work independently, manage their own workload and deliver high-quality inspections in line with national standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out food hygiene and food standards inspections of food business operators rated C–E, using the FHRS brand standard
  • Inspect new and previously unrated food premises
  • Work independently across Kingston and Sutton, managing a demanding inspection programme
  • Aim to complete up to 175 inspections during the contract period
  • Ensure all inspections, records and enforcement actions are completed accurately and in line with legislation
  • Flexibility to undertake some evening inspections as required

Requirements:

  • Fully competent Food Safety Officer / Food Inspector
  • Recent experience (within the last 2 years) working as a food inspector is essential
  • Proven experience inspecting food businesses for hygiene and standards compliance
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and enforcement procedures
