The Food Safety and Quality Assurance Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the management and maintenance of the Food Safety and HACCP systems at CP Brandon to ensure the plant's ability to demonstrate ongoing compliance.
Job Responsibility
Provide Food Safety support to other members of FSQA and production
Follows up on CFIA Standard Inspection Process (SIP) Observations to ensure action plans are effectively in place to prevent SIP Non-conformances and further observations
Administer third party and customer food safety requirements
Maintains Food Safety documents according to the written program, ensures that documents are reviewed/revised as scheduled
Liaises with other stakeholders, initiates and assists in the development of Standard Operating Procedures
Ensures that new policies, procedures and changes are implemented with appropriate documentation and training
Assists with the management of the corrective action program to reduce the occurrence of repeat deficiencies/deviations
Verifies that the plant is in compliance with the written program on an ongoing basis
Provides timely and effective feedback to the FSQA Supervisor, FSQA Manager and other stakeholders as appropriate
Liaises with the HACCP Specialist and FSQA Technicians (HACCP) to maintain document control, tracking and ensure compliance
Maintains current knowledge of regulatory changes, new policies and industry standards
Develops and implements training programs for employees
Tracking and Organization of FSQA Training Programs
Responsible as back-up support for Food Safety and Quality Assurance Department in times of absence of HACCP Specialist, and FSQA Technicians (HACCP, Kill Floor, Product Auditing)
Prevents the on-going production of non-compliant product when non-conformities are observed or identified
Control any non-compliant product that has been produced, perform a food safety assessment and determine appropriate disposition
Other duties that may be assigned from time to time
Requirements
Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent industry experience
Strong understanding of Sanitation, SOPs, Pre-requisite Programs, HACCP, CCP's and GMP's
Understanding and knowledge of Alchemy Training Platform
2-3 years' experience in the Food industry preferred
Demonstrated ability to follow and understand standard operating procedures, regulatory requirements, etc.
Confident in communicating effectively with hourly employees, plant supervisors, management and CFIA
Demonstrated strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills and strong communication skills – verbal, written, listening
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to function in a fast-paced production environment
Demonstrated dependability in current position (i.e.: attendance and performance)
Computer literacy with an understanding of MS Office programs – MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Nice to have
Understanding of HACCP & Food Safety will be a definite asset
Working experience in the fresh pork industry, knowledge of the different meat cuts and food quality issues will be a definite asset
