Job Description

Supporting food manufacturers and retailers with product innovation including: rheology, new product development, value optimisation, instructional development, pilot plant, quality and food safety manufacturing, thermal processing, new technologies, and regulatory affairs. Campden BRI's pilot plant facilities support cutting-edge food and drink product development for clients across the industry — from early-stage innovation through to full-scale process design. Our pilot plant team sits at the heart of this work, keeping world-class equipment running safely, compliantly, and at peak readiness.

Job Responsibility

  • Ownership of H&S, quality and food safety systems — including inductions, training and ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Managing calibration and servicing schedules for approximately 50+ items of equipment (both internal and external)
  • Coordinating contractors, raising purchase orders, managing site visits and filing documentation
  • Auditing all areas for housekeeping, ingredient storage and GMP standards
  • Managing the pilot plant diary and access control to maximise utilisation and avoid scheduling conflicts
  • Carrying out and overseeing risk assessments (IOSH Managing Safely), PUWER and COSHH assessments
  • Acting as point of contact for pest control, PAT testing, water testing and FES liaison
  • Chairing the quarterly steering group and producing minutes and actions
  • Supporting project teams with practical work, paperwork sign-off and client-facing activity
  • Driving the Pilot Plant 2025 Strategy and identifying CAPEX requirements

Requirements

  • Educated to at least A-level standard
  • HACCP Level 3 or above
  • Proven knowledge of quality management systems and regulatory compliance
  • Practical experience operating food processing equipment
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple workstreams and variable deadlines
  • Confident communicator, able to influence across all levels from technologist to Associate Director
