About our property: The Quadrangle Club is the faculty and social club of the University of Chicago. Established in 1893, the Quadrangle Club has played and continues to be an important role in the intellectual fabric and life of the University of Chicago. Over the decades, the Club has been a place where Nobel laureates, faculty and numerous other scholars have hosted discussions about topics and ideas that have shaped the world. The Club is housed in a historic facility designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw.
Job Responsibility:
Create and maintain a positive work environment within the team based on communication, team work and respect
Be hands on and lead by example
Monitor and critique beverage and food quality plus service standards
Scheduling, interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, counseling and performance evaluations of associates
Daily tracking of payroll and revenue expenses
Ensure scenography standards of atmosphere and cleanliness of restaurant, including inspecting tabletops, bar, side-stations and event space
Assists in the creation of member events, marketing etc
Maintain and update specialty cocktails, wine and beer menus
Seat guests, and assign tables
Monitoring of all current inventories (liquor, beer, wine, flatware, linens, F&B equipment etc.) and the ordering of new product
Conduct end of the month inventories
Monitor current trends in the industry and make recommendations for new products and innovative service solutions
Enforce Chicago of City, State of Illinois alcohol and sanitation policies
Ability to use good judgement to de-escalate uncomfortable situations with internal and external guests
Maintaining cost efficiencies of restaurant through forecasting, inventory controls and staffing
Requirements:
Five years of progressive restaurant experience desired
Two years of management experience preferred
Flexible schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when needed
Knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Active manager ServSafe and BASSET certifications with the city/state
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Restaurant, or Culinary Management or equivalent experience
