This role will assist a team which supports systems verification of FMS problem report fixes for advanced aerospace technology.

Assist a team which supports systems verification of FMS problem report fixes for advanced aerospace technology.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering or Computer Science
  • 7+ years systems engineering experience with safety critical embedded avionics systems
  • 5+ years systems engineering FMS experience
  • Experience authoring/modify system requirements
  • Experience working in integrated lab environments for investigation of issues and testing of fixes
  • Experience performing FMS system integration
  • Experience performing FMS system verification testing
  • Experience analyzing problem reports created internally as well as those resulting from in-service issues
  • Experience verifying applicability of software fixes for problem reports
  • Familiar with the DO-178 Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience updating DO-178 Certification Documents based on problem report fixes
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Accountable and takes ownership of assigned tasks
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative to get things done

Nice to have:

  • Experience with NGFMS (Next Generation FMS) / Integrated FMS platforms
  • Familiarity with ARP-4754
  • Experience with DOORS NG

  • Perform a wide range of tasks including: requirements development, system modeling, interface definition, safety analysis, verification procedure creation and test execution
  • Ensure Flight Management (FMS) and Flight Guidance (FGS) Subsystem(s) requirement sets are complete and correct, with traceability to and fulfilling higher-level requirements
  • Perform Integration activities of the Avionics System including the Flight Management (FMS) and Flight Guidance (FGS)Subsystems in the Labs
  • Assist with definition of installation and qualification requirements for the FMS & FGS equipment within the Avionics System
  • Work with Pilots, Operators, and Human Factors to optimize the FMS and FGS functionality
  • Coordinate integration of the FMS & FGS Subsystem with other Aircraft Systems (Flight Controls, High-Voltage Power, etc, …)
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships
  • Collaborate with other System Engineers to ensure the fully integrated aircraft meets its requirements and is optimized
  • Coordinate Integrated Avionics related development, integration and verification activities between Archer teams and suppliers
  • Based in Archer HQ, San Jose, CA. Travel: 10% or less
