The Co-Director of Acorn Center for Early Education and Care is a member of the BCNC Acorn Center for Early Education and Care team. The state licensed and nationally accredited child care center supports the growth and learning for children from 15 months to 5 years. You will work collaboratively with a team of professional teachers to strengthen children and families by providing high-quality education and care so parents can work or further their education. You will report directly to the Director of Child Care Services.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee daily operations of the child care center to ensure a safe and nurturing environment
Serve as primary on-site contact for center administration, teachers, children, and families during Director's absences
Manage and support teachers and administrators through hiring, training, performance evaluations, and professional development
Oversee development and implementation of age-appropriate educational programs and curricula
Maintain compliance with state licensing requirements and health and safety regulations
Collaborate with Director of Acorn Center on meeting EEC licensing and subsidy contract requirements
Provide support for regulatory visit and auditing preparations from EEC and NAEYC
Develop, implement, and review policies and procedures for the child care center
Ensure Assistant Director maintains daily staffing coverage and develops staff schedules to meet EEC ratio guidelines
Communicate effectively with parents regarding child's progress and center activities
Partner with Director of Acorn Center to develop and manage the center's budget
Provide support for family outreach operations including enrollment and access to services
Manage and support the senior volunteer program and substitute pool
Assist in running the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Review and approve employees' paid time off requests and timecards in ADP
Provide reports and other documentation as needed
Attend Boston Pre-K Directors meetings and ensure fulfillment of grant requirements
Participate in BCNC program and management meetings
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Early Child Care or Child Development
5-7 years professional experience supervising staff
Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Certifications of Lead Teacher Preschool and/or Infant-Toddler Teacher, and Director 1 required (or willingness to meet Director II certification)
Must meet EEC health and background check requirements
Must be certified in First Aid and CPR within 6 months of employment
Knowledge of EEC and NAEYC regulations highly preferred
Knowledge of Safe Serve guidelines is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent organizational skills
Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, communication, and collaboration skills
Experience with mentoring and coaching
Respect for differences and ability to work in a multicultural environment
Bilingual in English, Cantonese, and/or Mandarin is a plus
Nice to have:
