Associates Degree
Must complete a respiratory care degree program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Texas (RCP)
BLS
ACLS
Based on location assignment may also require PALS, NRP
Two (2) year of experience working in an acute care facility, NICU experince required
Effective Communication
Knowledge of the principles and skills of the respiratory therapy process to provide patient care and treatment.

Job Responsibility

Assesses, analyzes, plans, implements and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards set by the organization.
Provides a range of treatments from breathing techniques, nebulizer treatments, ventilator management, oxygen therapies, and external ventilation support.
Applies acute assessment skills and critical thinking to manage diverse patient needs, develop and execute effective care plans, and ensure calm, focused intervention in both routine and emergent situations.
Must be flexible to float to various departments and sites throughout the Texas Market which could include but not limited to scheduling day of staffing.
Participates as a member of the health care team in cooperation with and under the direction of a Clinical Leader.
Must be available to be scheduled for a minimum of 3 shifts every week and available to be scheduled a Saturday and Sunday shift every other weekend.
Must be available to be scheduled for two major holidays per policy.
May take Call.

Job Responsibility

Performs and directs the administration of respiratory care services (including but not limited to oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway clearance, invasive and non-invasive ventilation and bedside spirometry), as ordered by a patient’s attending physician, in a quality manner that is in accordance with established procedures
Administers cardiopulmonary resuscitation in emergency situations
Reviews physician's orders, analyzes patient's diagnostic test results and provides appropriate therapy based on the patient’s current clinical condition
If appropriate, implements approved protocols as directed by physician
Performs routine and advanced respiratory therapy
prioritizing patient needs in a rapidly changing environment
Instructs patient in the use of various respiratory care equipment in a thorough and professional manner
Assesses patient response to therapy and coaches the patient to improve technique
Documents all treatments and therapies given, any supplies used, and accurately files all corresponding charges
Reports outcomes of therapeutic interventions and makes recommendations as appropriate
