Job Description:

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Flight Test Engineer at Redstone Arsenal, AL. Astrion offers comprehensive services that boost preparedness, optimize performance, and ensure success across various domains, from Cyber to Digital, Mission and Systems, servicing our nation's Civilian, Defense and Space communities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conduct developmental flight test for Utility Assault platforms
  • Perform flight test engineer duties as crewmember on flight test aircraft
  • Monitor in-flight test activities, via real-time telemetry systems or as an aircraft crewmember
  • Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers
  • Prepare pre-test documentation (test plans, test readiness reviews, safety reviews)
  • Provide technical expertise with regard to the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives
  • Perform in-depth engineering data reduction and analysis
  • Write comprehensive test reports to provide usable, accurate, and readily-interpretable results
  • Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives

Requirements:

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. Engineering degree must be from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program
  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree and 3 to 6 years’ experience or a Master’s Degree and 1 to 4 years’ experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)

Nice to have:

  • Rotary-wing or fixed-wing flight test experience, or experience in a related discipline is desired
  • MS degree in any of the above-mentioned disciplines is desired
