Job Description

The Flex Senior Director, Product Operating Model Design, partners with business units and product and technology leaders to define target user experiences, map end-to-end journeys, and identify the capabilities required to enable effective agile team structures and drive successful product transformation outcomes. This role designs and operationalizes fit-for-purpose product operating models (ways of working, governance, decision rights, funding, talent/skills, and tooling) to accelerate value delivery, improve customer and associate experiences, and increase organizational agility. Reporting to the Managing Vice President, Portfolio Planning & Product Delivery, the Senior Director will work closely with business unit executives, product management, technology, design, data, and transformation leaders to align strategy to execution, and define and embed new ways of working.

Job Responsibility

  • Partner with business units to define target user experiences, map customer/associate journeys, and translate insights into product and platform capability roadmaps
  • Design agile product team topologies (e.g., value streams, product lines, platform teams) including roles, responsibilities, interfaces, and capacity assumptions to enable scalable delivery
  • Define product operating model components including governance forums, decision rights, intake/prioritization, portfolio sequencing, and outcomes-based metrics
  • Establish funding and capacity allocation approaches (e.g., product/value stream funding) and connect investment decisions to measurable business outcomes
  • Design and standardize core ways of working (planning, discovery/delivery, dependency management, release management, and value measurement) aligned to enterprise agile practices
  • Partner with business and technology leaders to identify operating model gaps and implement pragmatic solutions that remove friction, clarify accountability, and improve time-to-value
  • Create artifacts and playbooks (operating model blueprint, RACI, team interaction model, ceremonies, dashboards) that enable consistent adoption across business units
  • Develop and maintain executive-level operating model and transformation reporting (KPIs/OKRs, flow metrics, adoption measures, benefits tracking) to support governance and decision-making
  • Lead complex, multi-workstream product transformation programs from diagnostic through design and implementation, ensuring clear scope, integrated plans, risks/issues management, and measurable outcomes
  • Facilitate executive and working sessions to align stakeholders on the target operating model, phasing/transition approach, and what will change for teams, leaders, and partners
  • Partner with HR, capability and coaching, and mobilization teams to develop enablement (training, coaching, leader routines) that builds product, agile, and change capabilities across the organization
  • Define adoption and sustainability mechanisms (leadership rhythms, coaching model, communities of practice, inspection/adaptation loops) to embed new ways of working

Requirements

  • 10-12 years of management consulting or internal consulting and strategy experience, with a strong track record leading and delivering enterprise transformation programs
  • Expertise in product operating model design including value streams, team topologies, governance, decision rights, funding/capacity models, and performance management
  • Demonstrated ability to define user experiences, map journeys, and translate customer/associate needs into capability requirements and prioritized delivery roadmaps
  • Strong program leadership skills across multiple workstreams, including executive stakeholder management, facilitation, structured problem solving, and benefits realization
  • Experience working with product, design, engineering, data, and business teams
  • comfort operating in ambiguous environments and driving alignment to decisions and action
  • Experience with product and agile tooling and practices (e.g., Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps), flow metrics, and outcomes/OKR measurement
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing operating model governance, portfolio/roadmap management, and value stream funding approaches
  • Ability to create executive-ready narratives and artifacts (target operating model, business case, transformation roadmap, dashboards) for senior decision makers
  • Experience leading workshops and working groups (journey mapping, capability modeling, team design, governance design) and driving decisions across diverse stakeholders
  • Strong leadership presence, communication, and influencing skills
