Job Description:

Seeking a Database Platform Engineer to support the design, automation, and operation of cloud-based database platforms. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, with a strong emphasis on Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), DevOps automation using Harness, and close collaboration with platform, security, and application teams. This engineer will contribute directly to platform automation initiatives that enable secure, scalable, and repeatable database provisioning and lifecycle management across the enterprise.

Job Responsibility:

  • Develop, enhance, and maintain Terraform modules supporting database platform infrastructure and related cloud resources
  • Implement automation patterns that reduce manual operations and enable self-service consumption of database capabilities
  • Support Day 2 operations automation, including configuration changes, upgrades, and lifecycle actions
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Harness to validate, test, and deploy infrastructure code
  • Integrate policy, security, and compliance checks into pipeline workflows
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and improve reliability and execution speed
  • Partner with Database Platform Engineers and SREs to support provisioning and management of managed database services
  • Assist in creating standardized patterns for resiliency, backup, and disaster recovery
  • Contribute to platform documentation, runbooks, and operational playbooks
  • Work closely with application teams, cloud platform engineering, and security partners to understand requirements and deliver solutions
  • Participate in code reviews, backlog refinement, and sprint ceremonies
  • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies clearly and proactively

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, engineering, or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in platform engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure automation
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Terraform for provisioning infrastructure
  • Experience with CICD tools (eg: harness)
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and cloud native services
  • Experience working with Git-based workflows and modern DevSecOps best practices
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and collaboration skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience supporting database platforms or data infrastructure
  • Exposure to policy as code, security automation, or compliance controls
  • Scripting experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
  • Experience working in Agile / product-oriented delivery models
  • Prior experience in large scale enterprise environments
