Job Description:

Under the direction of the Fleet Manager this position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of UNM Hospital’s fleet maintenance program. Provides maintenance for shop, yard and fuel islands; transports vehicles; assists with vehicle in-take and disposal and provides minor vehicle servicing. Ensures adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment

Job Responsibility:

  • Under the direction of the Fleet Manager this position is responsible for assisting in the delivery of UNM Hospital’s fleet maintenance program
  • Provides maintenance for shop, yard and fuel islands
  • transports vehicles
  • assists with vehicle in-take and disposal and provides minor vehicle servicing
  • Ensures adherence to Hospital and departmental policies and procedures
  • RECORDS – Maintain electronic vehicle maintenance logs
  • VEHICLES - Safely operate Hospitals vehicles in compliance with all city, State, Federal and University and departmental regulations and/or policies
  • FLEET – Deliver and pick up vehicles from local maintenance/repair facilities
  • FLEET – Refuels departmental vehicles, maintains tire pressure, check/refills vital fluids, washes and vacuum vehicles, and ensures vehicle interiors are clean and serviceable at all times
  • MAINTAIN – Maintains shop, yard and fuel islands by dumping trash, cleaning fluid spills, restocking containment and abatement supplies and disposing of used material following appropriate hazard materials instruction
  • MAINTAIN – Performs weekly manual fuel tank stick measurements, adds and removes vehicle decals, inspects/transports/washes and fuels vehicles. Retrieves parts and maintains information on computer
  • REPAIRS – Performs or assists in the performance of daily safety and service inspections, routine system diagnoses, and basic maintenance and/or repairs
  • QUALITY - Adhere to quality guideline requirements
  • maintain periodic maintenance schedules and non-scheduled repairs
  • notify supervisor of par level replacement parts and negative trends
  • QUALITY – Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
  • RELATED WORK - Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
  • ASSISTANCE - Assist other department personnel as needed
  • DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature and attending in-services, meetings and workshops

Requirements:

  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • One year light automotive maintenance and driving experience
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License
  • UNM Vehicle Operator's Permit w/in 60 days

Nice to have:

  • 3 years directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Vocational Certificate in related specialized field
