Job Description:

The Fleet Support Engineer on the Vehicle Development team will be actively engaged in the operational uptime of our fleet. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams, meticulously documenting troubleshooting processes, and providing real-time support for daily operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for real-time escalations for sensor-related fleet issues
  • Conduct in-depth root cause analysis through comprehensive log review to identify and resolve fleet issues
  • Develop, update, and maintain a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for technicians, incorporating newly diagnosed faults and their resolutions
  • Perform hardware bring-up and validation procedures for new sensor components (LiDAR, radar, cameras, etc.)
  • Design and implement diagnostic procedures to streamline future troubleshooting processes, with a focus on sensor calibration and data integrity
  • Historical review of vehicle/fleet data, including sensor data, identifying trends and issues
  • Collaborate with engineering design teams to enhance tooling and improve issue detection capabilities
  • Develop and implement effective countermeasures across the fleet to prevent recurring issues
  • Define and capture essential data points to validate issue resolution and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement in vehicle performance and reliability
  • Availability for overtime as needed, with advanced notice provided
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within the U.S. to support various operational locations

Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles, with a specific focus on perception systems and sensors
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and how to safely troubleshoot
  • Understanding of hardware and software systems architecture, communications to support in an operations setting
  • Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drive specific resolution into single components
  • Self-starter, ability to build relationships across the company
  • Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams, connector end views/pinout
  • Pass a background check

  • Experience with electric vehicle technology
  • Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
  • Knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics tools
  • Experience with Linux & Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
