Job Responsibility:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for partner-led fleet service operations, cultivating strong, collaborative relationships and ensuring alignment with Waymo’s operational standards, policies, and strategic objectives
  • Facilitate the exchange of insights and best practices between Waymo’s operations and partner’s, fostering continuous fleet health and workshop efficiency improvements
  • Establish and scale initial fleet service, maintenance, and repair operations in new markets
  • Guide and manage a team of diagnostic technicians, setting priorities and ensuring effective task execution
  • Partner with Operations leads to guarantee cross-market operational consistency and robustly deploy procedural and technological changes
  • Provide performance updates and insights to Operations leadership which drive improvement and ensure accountability

Requirements:

  • Bilingual - competent speaking and writing both Japanese and English
  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial operations and logistics role with a focus on fleet readiness initiatives
  • Proven ability to drive the execution of daily operational tasks, while ensuring operational efficiency
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring timely delivery and quality outcomes
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, external partners and executives
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data to identify gaps and make informed decisions

  • Drive quality-by-design: participate in design reviews, DFM/DFx, tolerance stacks, material and plating selections, connector mating strategy, strain relief, and assembly methods to reduce variation and field failures
  • Define and track quality and reliability metrics (DPPM, yield, escapes, RMA/FRACAS trends, Cpk/Ppk where applicable) for interconnects across NPI and mass production
  • Build and execute qualification strategies for cables/connectors/patch panels (mechanical, environmental, electrical, and reliability), including test coverage, sample plans, clear pass/fail criteria, defining installation criteria and processes, optics termination quality management and setting fiber standards criteria
