We are looking for an experienced Fixed Asset Manager to support property accounting operations for utility businesses in Missouri. This Contract position will oversee fixed asset reporting, month-end close activities, and compliance-related accounting deliverables while partnering with operational and financial stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage deadlines across a fast-paced, team-focused environment.
Job Responsibility:
Lead fixed asset and property accounting activities, including oversight of month-end close tasks, account reviews, and reporting accuracy across utility operations
Direct analysis of asset-related financial results, investigate variances, and provide meaningful insights to finance, regulatory, and operational partners
Manage responses to rate case support needs, regulatory requests, and compliance reporting tied to fixed asset accounting matters
Supervise and develop property accounting staff by reviewing work, offering coaching, and supporting ongoing growth
Partner closely with operations, engineering, tax, and leadership teams to improve visibility into asset performance and accounting impacts
Track and communicate key performance indicators and operational metrics to leadership to support informed decision-making
Coordinate multiple priorities and special projects while maintaining strong execution against established deadlines
Support asset accounting processes involving systems such as SAP S/4HANA and related fixed asset tools when applicable
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
At least 5 years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to fixed asset or property accounting responsibilities
Demonstrated background in U.S. public utility finance or accounting environments
Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting, depreciation, asset ledgers, inventory controls, and core financial reporting principles
Proven ability to lead teams, guide performance, and work effectively in a continuous improvement setting
Strong communication skills with experience preparing reports and addressing questions from leadership or regulatory stakeholders
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems, and travel periodically as needed
