Job Description

Join First Ireland Spirits as a Maintenance Fitter in Abbeyleix. Help keep our award-winning Irish Cream production running smoothly in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Carry out routine and preventative maintenance on plant equipment
  • Diagnose and repair faults in machinery and systems
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency breakdowns
  • Fabricate and fit mechanical parts using a range of tools (turning, milling, welding, pipework etc.)
  • Complete maintenance records and ensure documentation is up to date
  • Maintain a safe, tidy working environment in line with HACCP, BRC, ISO, and Health & Safety standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Bottling, Liquid Processing, NPD) to support production efficiency
  • Support audits and project work as required, including occasional travel to other sites (e.g. Portlaoise)
  • Operate bottling line equipment occasionally as needed and support equipment trials and training

Requirements

  • Time-served Mechanical, Automation & Maintenance Fitter (MAMF) with minimum 3 years’ post-apprenticeship experience, ideally in a high-volume, highly automated manufacturing environment
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, with experience in machine repair, fabrication, and fault diagnosis
  • Comfortable using a wide variety of tools and maintenance techniques
  • Basic electrical experience is a plus
  • Team player with solid communication skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to work on a 2-shift cycle and respond to on-site emergencies when needed
  • Committed to maintaining high hygiene, safety, and quality standards
