We’re looking for an energetic and motivated fitness professional to join Napier City Council’s Fitness Team in a fixed-term, part-time opportunity. Job Responsibility:
Create a welcoming, high-energy environment by supporting and engaging members at Ocean Spa gym, helping them feel confident, motivated, and supported in their fitness journey
Deliver engaging and results-driven fitness experiences, including group classes, HIIT, circuit training and small group training
Take ownership of session delivery from start to finish — preparing equipment, running sessions smoothly and on time, and ensuring spaces are reset, clean, and ready for the next users
Actively supervise the fitness facilities to maintain a safe, professional, and positive experience for all members, and make sure the gym is always in tip top shape
Build strong connections with the wider team through clear communication with reception and leadership, responding confidently to issues and escalating emergencies when needed
Requirements:
Hold, or be actively working towards, Personal Training and/or Group Fitness qualifications
Hold a current First Aid Certificate and confidently respond to emergency situations
Sound knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise techniques
Excellent communication and people skills
Availability to work a variety of shifts such as early morning, evenings and weekends
Previous experience in the fitness industry is advantageous
Open to developing new skills and tools such as working around fitness in the water, fitness challenges, social media activities and other additional fitness industry ideas
