Job Description:

The purpose of the First Line Leader role is ‘To develop and enable a first touch team of operators to consistently deliver outstanding safety, quality, service and value to the person at the end of our supply chain’. The role has a direct hour by hour impact on the ambition of the GMS Strategy to achieve the three zeros on Accidents, Defects and Waste. First Line Leader role is required to focus a minimum of 70% of their time on the shop-floor.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process management by creating and confirming standards
  • Process confirmations against the 4M’s Material, Manpower, Method, Measurement
  • Required to manage safety, quality, compliance and output
  • Ensure cGMP, GPS, regulatory, QMS, EHS, internal and external audit compliance
  • Preparation of weekly production plan and scheduling of activities
  • Proactive planning of required resources
  • Supervise the manufacturing processes & documentations (BMR /Logbook / Check list etc) of various production activities
  • To ensure that manufacturing is carried out according to SOP, BMR & cGMP practices
  • Work in coordination with line support function team (like Engg, QA/QC & PR&D) to drive area performance
  • Performance management and Problem solving
  • Setting target conditions, and delivering against this, to achieve improvements in performance
  • Support to execute the continuous improvement in work area by using GPS ways of working
  • Fully deploying performance management process within area ensuring accurate and timely data is used
  • Real time issue identification and resolution involving staff
  • Ensuring that the appropriate Deviation procedure and problem-solving processes are used
  • Ensuring the area returns to standard after a safety, quality or performance/output deviation/incident
  • Ensuring that they understand the cost budget for the area and the impact that they and their team can have on this
  • Coordination & monitoring of department consumables & inventory
  • Ensure compliance and inspection readiness

  • Leading and coaching of teams on shift to ensure adherence to standards for safety, quality, compliance and output
  • Working with the team to continuously improve the capability of both the individuals and the overall team
  • Improve people capability by imparting trainings as per training curricula defined
  • Ensuring development plans and PDPs are undertaken on a regular basis using the 70:20:10 and GSK methods
  • Coaching and providing development to improve the behavior/performance of individuals and the team
  • NMS PDP completion & doing coaching / counseling of people to ensure adherence to stds for safety, quality & delivery
  • Disciplinary, Absence management, Grievance procedures as appropriate in site
  • Role modelling the expected behaviors and standards for all staff in the area

Requirements:

  • Minimum Level of Education - B. Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc./ M.Sc
  • Area of Specialisation - Business or Pharma orientated would be advantageous
  • Preferred Level of Education - Advanced knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PowerPoint
  • Area of Specialisation -Certification from FDA for Competent Technical Staff ( recommended)
  • Minimum Level of Job-Related Experience required - Exposure of 3+years in Oral Solid Dosage manufacturing process
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels and across functions
  • Sound knowledge of ‘audit’ requirements from quality and safety perspective within the pharmaceutical business
