Job Description:

The Town of York, ME is accepting applications for the position of a Firefighter for the York Beach Fire department. The position is responsible for both areas of Advanced Emergency Medicine and Firefighting. Work is performed under the direction of the Fire Chief or designee. The position is non-exempt, union, working a 42 hour per week, on average, schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Job Responsibility:

  • Performs technical work providing advanced emergency medical services for patients who experience medical problems in the field
  • Combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires
  • Answering emergency calls
  • Operating and maintaining Fire Rescue Department equipment, apparatus, and quarters

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Firefighter I and II certifications required
  • Advanced EMT or Paramedic license preferred
  • Basic EMT license required with achievement of EMT-A within 18 months of service
  • Maine Commercial Drivers license (CDL) or ability to obtain a CDL within six months of hire required
  • Prior experience desirable
