Job Description:

The town of Halifax, Massachusetts, a close-knit community of approximately 7,800 residents, is accepting applications for a Full-Time Professional Firefighter-Paramedic. The town seeks a dedicated public safety professional committed to high quality emergency response, teamwork, and community service. Firefighter Paramedics provide comprehensive firefighting, emergency medical, rescue, and fire prevention services. The position requires sound judgment, physical capability, and the ability to perform effectively in high stress and hazardous environments while serving the community with professionalism and pride.

Job Responsibility:

  • Respond to fire suppression, emergency medical, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents
  • Provide Advanced Life Support patient care as a licensed Paramedic
  • Operate fire and emergency medical apparatus and specialized rescue equipment
  • Perform search and rescue, ventilation, overhaul, and fire containment operations
  • Participate in training, inspections, and public education programs
  • Maintain stations, vehicles, and equipment
  • Complete accurate incident and patient care reports

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Massachusetts certified Paramedic, or the ability to obtain reciprocity
  • Firefighter I and II certification or ability to obtain within a designated timeframe
  • Valid Massachusetts Class D driver’s license. CDL preferred
  • CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications or the ability to obtain
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, medical exam, physical agility test, and drug screening
