Job Description

As a Fire Protection Technician, you'll be responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, and servicing of various fire detection and alarm components, as well as fire extinguishers, encompassing hand portable, wheeled, and fixed systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Execute tasks in accordance with applicable NFPA, Federal, State, Ft. Sam Houston, and BAMC regulations
  • Read blueprints, electrical diagrams, and wiring schematics proficiently
  • Utilize a range of hand tools and electronic testing equipment effectively
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of NFPA code, along with Federal and State regulations relevant to daily responsibilities
  • Document inspections and maintenance using computer systems
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned spaces and the workshop, while also supporting the maintenance team as needed

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Broad knowledge of facility operations and maintenance practices
  • Experience with a Facility Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS) highly desired
  • Hold current State of Texas Alarm and Fire Extinguisher Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years documented experience in the last 5 years
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions
  • Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain NAC/LAC clearance after hire
