Job Description

Bureau Veritas N.A., Inc. is seeking qualified Fire Code Inspectors and Plans Examiners for major market locations across California. The ideal candidate will conduct comprehensive fire and safety inspections and plan reviews for residential and commercial buildings.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years in plan checking, permit technician, or building inspection
  • Experience as firefighter or in related code enforcement field
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Proficiency in project management
  • Strong understanding of NFPA 1031 Standards
  • California State Fire Marshal (CSFM) Fire Inspector I Certification
  • Must obtain within specified period of hire
  • Required CSFM Coursework: Fire Inspector 1A, Fire Inspector 1B, Fire Inspector 1C, Fire Inspector 1D
  • International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I Certification (Preferred)

  • Inspects fire alarm equipment visually and replaces defective components
  • Checks pressure gauges on suppression system storage containers and recharges or replaces container
  • Performs complete repairs and routine preventive maintenance on dry /wet pipe alarms valves, pre-action and deluge systems
  • Assembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes
  • Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations
  • Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe
  • Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level and plumb bob
