Job Description:

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are recruiting for a Fire Protection Inspecting Officer, on a full time, permanent basis. This is a specialist role where you’ll use your knowledge, skills, and experience to work closely with our business communities, delivering key programmes such as Business Engagement Programme and Risk-Based Inspection Programme. As a Fire Protection Inspecting Officer, you’ll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in the communities we serve, helping us achieve our vision of “Safer People, Safer Places.

Job Responsibility:

  • Conducting inspections across a wide range of premises
  • Ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation
  • Providing expert advice and guidance
  • Identifying hazards and risks, and determining effective solutions to mitigate them
  • Work covering fire safety within premises across diverse communities
  • Fire safety in environments where hazardous materials are used or stored
  • Assessment and enforcement relating to fire protection and safety systems
  • Issues connected to building construction, refurbishment, materials, and demolition

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Certificate and Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety (or equivalent qualifications) or commit to completing both within a two-year period
  • A strong understanding of risk management processes and their practical application
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, detailed, and complex reports
  • Effective interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills, enabling you to engage confidently with a wide range of audiences
