Job Description

The City of Chandler Fire Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Fire Mechanic - CDL. The position is scheduled to work 5 days, 8 hours.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform specialized journey level mechanical maintenance and repair on all types of complex firefighting apparatus and related equipment, to include heavy duty Fire response trucks, general purpose automotive vehicles and specialized components such as centrifugal fire pumps, hydraulically operated aerial ladders, elevating platforms and computerized electronic control systems
  • may be assigned to repair and maintain fire service tools and equipment

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years of experience in the maintenance, repair and inspection of heavy equipment including experience maintaining and repairing diesel motors
  • Emergency Vehicle Technician (E.V.T.) Fire Apparatus Level I Certification within one (1) year of hire or promotion
  • a valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • a Class B Commercial Driver's License within six (6) months of hire or promotion
  • or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
