The Goodyear Fire Department Cadet Program is a hands-on mentorship opportunity designed for individuals who are passionate about public service and eager to learn about the fire profession in a volunteer capacity. Cadets support the needs of the department and community while working alongside professional firefighters. Cadets gain valuable exposure to real-world fire service operations, including: Participating in firefighter shift work; Assisting with patient care under supervision; Learning and practicing firefighting skills; Developing job-related physical and technical skills. This program provides a meaningful experience for those exploring a future in public safety or community service.
Job Responsibility:
Observe and assist with emergency medical service responses
Support firefighters during emergency and non-emergency calls when appropriate
Participate in community education activities such as fire safety demonstrations and station tours
Assist with maintaining the station, vehicles, and equipment
Perform administrative or operational support tasks such as organizing supplies, updating information, or preparing materials
Participate in scheduled cadet training, skills development, and team meetings
Requirements:
At least 18 years or older
Valid Driver’s License
18 hours a month (10 ride-along, 8 department/community service)
Attend a monthly 4-hour drill consisting of hands-on training with Fire Department Mentors
EMT Certification required or proof of EMT class enrollment
