Job Description

Amentum are seeking a Fire Alarm Systems Technician as a key member of a multi-skilled team to safely and effectively maintain facility infrastructure and critical systems at OASIS. This role provides a professional service in the execution of technical repair and maintenance of all assigned facility fire alarm equipment. This includes elements of planning, organization, coordination, scheduling and resource management associated with the day-to-day maintenance of the facility's fire alarm systems.

Job Responsibility

  • Inspection, testing and maintenance of fire systems and associated infrastructure in accordance with applicable standards
  • Repairs and installation of associated fire systems and infrastructure
  • Programming of Notifier system
  • Work with operational and maintenance personnel to coordinate life safety system impairments as required for repairs, maintenance and new installations
  • Maintain a complete and current working understanding of all relevant facilities infrastructure, equipment and systems
  • Inspection of fire extinguishers
  • Instructing and training of site incident response personnel in the operation of the life safety systems as it applies to their duties
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested

Requirements

  • NICET II or III – Fire Alarm Systems
  • Strong understanding of Work Health Safety (WHS) Act, and EHS policies & procedures
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience working within Facility Maintenance or similar technical environment
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of technical terminology relating to Electrical infrastructure and electronic equipment
  • Strong understanding of facilities equipment and functionality
  • Strong understanding of facilities O&M requirements
  • Strong understanding of equipment maintenance requirements (preventive, predictive, & corrective)
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience with diverse range of fire systems and suppression equipment highly regarded
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to fluently read, write and speak English

Nice to have

  • NICET I or II - Fire Special Hazards
  • NICET I or II - Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems
  • Experience with Notifier systems
  • Trade qualification
  • Enterprise Resource Planning experience (SAP, Archibus etc.)
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience

  • Perform corrective maintenance on installed fire detection, fire alarm, fire door, and mass notification systems IAW applicable UFC 3-601-02, NFPA Standards and manufacturer’s instructions, to return a system or component to full operating condition
  • Perform repair on installed fire detection, fire alarm, and mass notification systems IAW UFC 3-601-02, NFPA Standards and manufacturer’s instructions, to return a system or component to full operating condition
  • Respond within all emergency service calls (1As) within thirty (30) minutes of initial notification from customer, COR, or Customer Service Unit to repair an installed automatic fire alarm system with no late responses allowed
  • Provide quarterly training to Air Force personnel (such as firefighters) on simple procedures for clearing the various Fire Alarm Systems and components and resetting fire alarm panels to restore operational capability
  • For each newly constructed facility, the Contractor shall install a new antenna mast (Government provided), connect the transceiver to the installed panel, program the new fire alarm panel to the Monaco system, and test the installation to ensure that the system is effectively communicating with the Monaco equipment (i.e., if any detector goes off in the building, the alarm is sent to ECC Fire Dispatch)
  • Provide technical advice when requested by the COR for fire protection systems work proposed on work requests by other base agencies
