Our client is a NSW government organisation based in the Sydney CBD. They are currently seeking a Financial Reporting and Business Advisor to come in and join their team on a temp contract opportunity until 11th September 2026 with possible extensions.
Job Responsibility
Provide timely advice, support, and preparation for the Department and cluster agencies' statutory and financial reporting requirements
Partner with GovConnect NSW to review financial reconciliations, monitor service delivery requirements, and escalate or resolve transactional issues efficiently
Administer financial support systems—including online banking and cash forecasting—while providing coaching and process guidance to staff
Deliver day-to-day accounting services, manage end-of-month processing, and resolve complex transactional and account reconciliation issues to ensure audit and taxation compliance
Coordinate the management and payment of corporate accounts, and prepare accurate accrual and adjustment journals
Provide broad financial services to support the daily operations of the Finance Unit and participate in special finance projects as required
Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar OR CA/CPA qualification
Previous experience in Financial Reporting and Advisory roles
Proven knowledge of general financial accounting processes
Previous government experience (Desirable)
