Job Description:

Allianz Commercial is looking for a Financial Lines Underwriter based in Tokyo, Japan. The role involves underwriting new and renewal accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines, managing policy documentation, and developing relationships with brokers and clients. The position requires expertise in underwriting, strong communication skills, and proficiency in both Japanese and English.

Job Responsibility:

Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets within established authority limits, including acquiring new business and retaining existing business through client and broker negotiations as needed
Prepare and analyze relevant underwriting information, such as client and market research and claims data
Support risk pricing using global tools as appropriate, ensuring alignment with the underwriting strategy
Ensure underwriting compliance with the LoB governance framework, including adherence to underwriting authorities, underwriting guidelines, rules, and principles
Assist in achieving contract certainty for all accounts at inception
Support the binding of facultative reinsurance before policy inception
Establish and maintain a policy file for each managed risk and transaction, whether electronic or paper-based
Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to the broker when it's Allianz Commercial's responsibility, or verify issuance by the broker when it's their responsibility
Support the administration of International Insurance Programs for relevant LoBs
Oversee the timely and accurate booking of policy premiums, along with managing credit control and collection processes
Collaborate proactively with other functions, such as operations and credit control, to resolve outstanding account queries
Represent Allianz Commercial positively in the market and develop strong relationships with key brokers, clients, and stakeholders, including risk managers
Encourage the involvement of functional areas like Distribution Management, Claims, Operations, and Risk Consulting in the underwriting process
Cultivate relationships with internal functional areas and maintain peer-level relationships with brokers

Requirements:

Demonstrate expertise in underwriting with a focus on risk assessment and management
Apply evaluation and measurement skills within sales and distribution contexts
Manage policy and handle underwriting processes efficiently
Exhibit strong communication and presentation skills
Communicate effectively in Japanese
Possess proficiency in English language communication
Utilize influencing skills to persuade and motivate others to take action
Employ analytical skills to assess and interpret complex data
Proficiency in AI skills: The ability to utilize AI tools to support day-to-day tasks, improve efficiency, and contribute to data-driven decision-making is valuable
