We are looking for a financially minded data analyst to support tariff-related reporting and recovery efforts for a manufacturing organization in Lincolnshire, Illinois. This role focuses on organizing complex information from multiple sources, identifying what has been collected and what may be recoverable, and translating findings into clear business insight. The analyst will work closely with operations and commercial stakeholders to evaluate customer-level activity, reconcile payments, and build practical reporting tools that improve decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Analyze tariff-related financial data across multiple source systems to determine amounts collected, refunded, and potentially recoverable
Partner with operations and other cross-functional teams to gather business context, validate data accuracy, and support day-to-day analysis needs
Consolidate and connect several datasets into structured reporting that highlights customer-level activity, partial payments, and tariff application outcomes
Develop and maintain Excel-based analysis using advanced formulas such as VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP to reconcile large volumes of transactional information
Prepare Power BI reporting and data models to transform raw information into useful dashboards and actionable summaries
Review parts and whole-goods or generator transactions to identify differences in tariff treatment and ensure financial impact is properly tracked
Investigate historical customer payments to determine what has already been reimbursed and what additional amounts may still be owed
Perform hands-on ad hoc analysis to resolve complex questions, support business decisions, and provide timely updates to stakeholders
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, data analysis, or a similar analytical role within a business environment
Strong working knowledge of tariff-related analysis, including exposure to harmonized tariff concepts or comparable trade classifications
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, lookups, and the ability to manage large datasets efficiently
Experience combining data from multiple systems and creating clear, accurate reporting for business users
Familiarity with Power BI for data manipulation, reporting, and visualization
SAP experience is preferred but not required
Ability to investigate incomplete or inconsistent information and independently drive analysis forward with minimal oversight
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with operations and cross-functional teams
Availability to engage with the team in Lincolnshire, Illinois as needed during the 4-6 month assignment
