Job Description:

Financial Controller | Series B Insurtech Scale-Up | London (Hybrid). The Client: Harmonic is delighted to be partnering exclusively with one of the UK's most exciting Insurtech scale-ups, a company redefining insurance through intelligent, data-driven technology. Operating in one of the toughest insurance markets in recent years, this business has thrived where others have stalled. They have ambitious plans to double a considerably large insurance book by the end of next year through the launch of new products and expansion into fresh verticals across a £10-20 billion industry. Having recently completed a major Series B, they're now gearing up for a Series C raise, meaning finance will play a central role in preparing the business for its next leap in scale. It's a rare opportunity to join a venture-backed company that has real traction, world-class investors, and a team obsessed with using technology to modernise a sector ripe for change. The Role: Reporting directly into the VP of Finance, this is a career-defining opportunity for an ambitious, hands-on Financial Controller to lead core finance operations and help shape the future of a fast-growing, Tech scale-up. You'll take ownership of accounting, reporting, and financial control, while driving continuous improvement across processes and systems, with exposure to their upcoming fundraise. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in high-growth environments, someone who enjoys building scalable finance processes, leading teams, and embedding best-in-class financial operations within a rapidly evolving business, with clear scope to progress to Head of Finance within 12-18 months.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the accounting team, overseeing all day-to-day activities including accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, and ledger management
  • Own the month-end close and delivery of accurate management accounts and statutory reporting
  • Partner with FP&A to provide data-driven insights that underpin strategic decisions
  • Manage FCA and regulatory reporting, working closely with auditors to ensure compliance
  • Review and improve finance processes to make them scalable, efficient, and automation-ready
  • Collaborate with wider teams to align financial control with commercial goals
  • Champion innovation across finance, exploring automation and AI-driven tools to streamline workflows
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small, high-performing finance team

Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with industry experience
  • Start-up or scale-up environment experience
  • Strong communicator, able to convey financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Proven experience of using automation or AI tools
  • Management experience
