The Financial Controller will play a critical leadership role in managing the company’s financial health and supporting operational decision-making. This individual will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, job cost accounting, and internal controls while partnering closely with project management and executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong construction industry financial expertise, a deep understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion accounting, and a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement.
Job Responsibility:
Lead and manage all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job cost accounting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports
Manage construction job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
Monitor project budgets, cost tracking, and profitability analysis
Develop and maintain financial controls, policies, and procedures
Partner with project managers and operations leaders to provide financial insights on project performance
Prepare and manage company budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and interactions with external accountants and financial institutions
Support strategic planning initiatives and provide financial analysis for leadership decision-making
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA or CMA preferred
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
Prior experience in commercial construction, contracting, or project-based industries strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting
Experience with construction ERP/accounting systems (such as Sage, Viewpoint, Foundation, or similar)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
