We are helping our client look for an experienced Financial Controller to lead the financial operations supporting multiple business entities in Milan, Tennessee. This position is suited for a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can work independently, strengthen financial accuracy, and bring a more forward-looking, data-driven approach to decision-making. The role requires a hands-on leader who is comfortable managing detailed accounting work while also contributing strategic insight to support long-term growth.
Job Responsibility
Direct daily accounting activities across three business entities, ensuring financial records remain accurate, organized, and current
Lead the monthly close process, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and review of financial results for completeness and accuracy
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and management reports that highlight performance trends, risks, and opportunities
Oversee manufacturing and job costing activities, including analysis of standard costs, fixed assets, and operational spending
Identify discrepancies in financial data, resolve underlying issues, and implement improvements that strengthen reporting reliability
Partner with leadership to provide financial insight that supports planning, operational decisions, and overall business strategy
Maintain compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and audit expectations across divisional activities
Support financial process enhancements, system-related training, and reporting improvements to build a more analytical finance function
Requirements
At least 5 years of experience in accounting or financial leadership roles, preferably within manufacturing or a related industrial environment
Strong background in month-end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and preparation of financial statements
Demonstrated experience with manufacturing cost accounting, standard costing, and job costing principles
Proven ability to identify financial issues independently and take corrective action without close supervision
Proficiency with QuickBooks Online and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA or CMA is preferred
Effective leadership, communication, and analytical skills with the ability to influence a culture focused on proactive financial analysis
