Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join our team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in real estate accounting and financial management. The ideal candidate will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and drive efficiency across multiple portfolios.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the implementation and transition to Yardi accounting software, replacing legacy systems to enhance operational efficiency
  • Direct general ledger activities, ensuring seamless month-end and year-end closures along with timely financial reporting
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and deliver comprehensive reporting packages to stakeholders such as banks, lenders, and investors
  • Develop and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis to support strategic financial planning
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies across various jurisdictions
  • Collaborate with asset management, property management, and leasing teams to optimize financial reporting and operational processes
  • Monitor lease renewals and escalations, coordinating with property management for accuracy and efficiency
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, legal teams, and financial institutions
  • Mentor and lead a team of accounting professionals, fostering growth and maintaining high standards of performance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • At least 10 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior financial leadership role within real estate
  • Demonstrated expertise in system migrations, specifically use of Yardi software is a prerequisite
  • Comprehensive knowledge of property accounting, lease abstraction, reconciliations, and real estate finance
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex leases and real estate operating agreements with precision
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
