Job Description

Anglican Youthworks is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead our finance function and safeguard the financial health of an organisation equipping the next generation to follow Jesus. You'll bring technical rigour and sound stewardship to a multi-division not-for-profit spanning Special Religious Education, outdoor education conference centres, Christian publishing and Youthworks College. Reporting to the CFO, you'll take ownership of financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance and governance across all Youthworks divisions - providing the financial insight that lets ministry leaders focus on gospel work. You'll lead and develop the finance team while building strong relationships with divisional leaders and auditors.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and coordinate the external audit
  • Own the reconciliation framework across all balance sheet, bank and revenue accounts
  • Ensure compliance with ACNC, Corporations Act, GST, PAYG, FBT and payroll tax obligations
  • Partner with the fundraising team on donation compliance, receipting and reporting
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis across divisions
  • Oversee payroll, treasury, cash flow and the organisation's investment portfolio
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee vendor and expense management
  • Lead, develop and support a high-performing finance team

Requirements

  • CPA or CA ANZ qualified, with a relevant degree
  • 7+ years in accounting/financial management, including 3+ years at Financial Controller, CFO or equivalent senior level
  • Not-for-profit, charity, church, education or community sector experience highly regarded
  • Strong Australian tax compliance knowledge (GST, PAYG, FBT, payroll tax, DGR)
  • Experience managing a multi-entity or multi-division finance function
  • A personal commitment to, or respectful understanding of, the Christian faith and Youthworks' mission
