Job Description

Our ad agency client is looking for a Controller. This is a full time, hybrid role in New York, NY (3 days onsite / 2 remote).

Job Responsibility

  • Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
  • Budget & Forecast
  • Accounts Payable and T&E
  • Review client SOWs, estimates, and media authorization forms (MAFs), and perform client/job reconciliations
  • Produce weekly AR aging, monthly hours and utilization reporting, and support client cash collections
  • Review bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll registers and invoices, and quarterly/annual payroll tax filings (941, W-2, state)
  • Coordinate quarterly Serviceplan internal audits and support external financial audit and income-tax returns (PBC schedules, auditor/preparer follow-up)
  • Manage tax and regulatory filings — annual 1099s, NY Commercial Rent Tax, Sales & Use Tax (where applicable), business licenses, and state registration renewals

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Self-starter with proven ability to independently lead and complete projects
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and accounting best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with business acumen
  • Effective communicator with stakeholders, clients, and internal teams
  • ERP system proficiency and hands-on experience with consolidation/planning tools (Jedox, Lucanet)
  • advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive in identifying process improvements and driving efficiencies
  • Experience managing audit cycles (internal and financial) and coordinating tax compliance (income, sales/use, 1099, local filings)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • CPA or MBA a plus
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role
  • Advertising/media agency experience strongly preferred
