As part of the Global Real Estate Accounting team, you'll be at the forefront of managing a vast real estate portfolio across 60 countries. This is your chance to be part of a dynamic team that values precision, energy, and initiative. As an Accounting Analyst/ Associate in the Global Real Estate Accounting team, you will be responsible for assisting in the month end financial close and reporting.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a high volume and diverse portfolio of work which may include all aspects of lease accounting, including establishing, modifying and reviewing lease accounting schedules for completeness and accuracy in accordance with ASC 842 and IFRS 16
  • Month-end close, including developing or reviewing accrual estimates, posting journal entries to the general ledger, perform monthly reconciliation and certification of balance sheet accounts
  • Investigate monthly balance sheet, income statement and general ledger account variances and provide written explanations
  • Support ad hoc reporting and analysis across Global Real Estate as needed
  • Identify exceptions to standards, determining underlying causes and escalating to the supervisor and/or partners as appropriate
  • Establish and maintain relationships with finance and operations groups in Global Real Estate as well as Line of Business contacts

Requirements:

  • Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent required
  • 1+ years of relevant experience required in accounting or finance with demonstrated career progression for Analyst level
  • Experience with automated financial systems (SAP) and worksheet modeling tools (Excel)
  • Strong analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured mindset with process/continuous improvement and innovative thinking
  • Self-starter with initiative, ability to take ownership and work independently as well as contribute to the broader team
  • Ability to multi-task, adapt to change, work collaboratively and succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice to have:

  • Public accounting experience and/or large corporate experience preferred
  • Proficient in excel
  • VBA/programming skills as a plus
  • ACCA/CGMA preferred

  • Accountability for ensuring strong analysis of the assigned Real estate portfolio ensuring consistencies with industry leading practices and compliance with all internal risk policies, standards and procedures
  • Interface with and support bankers in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions for new and existing clients with ownership responsibilities for sound credit decisions and compliance with internal procedures/credit risk policy guidelines and standards
  • Adoption of leading practices in credit analysis, underwriting, and monitoring, including the end-to-end underwriting process, from early origination discussions to development of credit approval memos, and senior approval forums
  • Supervise analysts and associates to perform periodic monitoring of the portfolio
  • Ensure maintenance of organized credit files for credit, regulatory, and compliance purposes and ensuring compliance with WCR policies and processes
  • Perform quality control of the approval memos to ensure accuracy and completeness of input
  • Ensures team monitors the ongoing compliance of assigned deals with the documented financing terms and conditions, portfolio performance and financial triggers and makes appropriate recommendations with the aim of identifying and mitigating credit risks
  • Ensure ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of junior team to sustain a strong credit culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in analysis and execution
  • Provide support to Director and other senior team members, lead projects and initiatives in the wider team
